More often than not, patients entering a recovery center for addiction feel lost, abandoned, alone and out of step with the rest of the world. Experience has taught us that if a child in his early years takes a drink or drug and it makes them feel immeasurably better about their selves or their environment they will try it again and again and again until they are addicted to the feeling of euphoria.

We have also learned that given a certain set of circumstances, drinking at an early age stunts all emotional growth and the individual doesn’t mature as others do. Many people coming into recovery centers have been heard to say, “I don’t know who I am or where I belong. I feel out of place all of the time.”
